We are 7 miles from Salisbury (about 10-15min journey) into the countryside. We are close enough to be easily accessible, but far enough from the hustle and bustle of Salisbury. There are many Heritage Sites in the area. Amongst the most popular is:

Markets: Every Tuesday and Saturday there is a market on at Salisbury's Market Square, and on Thursdays in Wilton.

Where to Eat?

We have very good pubs in the area. Whether you require a child-friendly establishment, a traditional English pub, or something special, it is all within easy reach distance by car.

The Fox and Goose in Coombe Bissett. Four miles away from us, very easy to find. Child-friendly, outside eating area in good weather, play area for children. Friendly staff offering good pub food reasonably priced. Tel. 01722 718437 (Booking advisable over weekends).

The White Hart at Bishopstone. Good Food, nice atmosphere. Tel. 01722 780244

The Horseshoe at Ebbesbourne Wake. Highly recommended, a great place for lunch. The serve 'proper' vegetables. (Rather difficult to find at night if you do not know the area) Tel. 01722 780474.

The Ship Inn at Burcombe. Wonderful, contemporary food. A bit pricey but worth it. Tel. 01722 743182.

Walking in the area

Walking on Martin Down Conservation Area. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is only 5 minutes away by car.

Harnham Water Meadows near Salisbury Cathedral. The Harnham Water Meadows, within the city of Salisbury, are part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and are an Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA). See the website: www.salisburywatermeadows.org.uk

Walking around the old and new Wardour Castle. It is a pleasant walk through fields and along tracks. Old Wardour Castle dates from the 14th century and was the site of two sieges in the Civil War.

Walking around Broadchalke and Bishopstone, go and see the Fovant Badges. Lunch at the Queen's Head in Broadchalke.
