FAQ |
Swaynes Firs Farm is an 11 acre smallholding. We mainly keep beef cattle and a variety of poultry. We try to create a haven for our song birds, which we have encouraged over the years with feeding and habitat. We are close to Salisbury and ideal for touring the many heritage sites. Children are welcome to help with egg collection or feeding of our birds or animals.
To those with an interest in the past Swaynes Firs is fascinating because the Grimsditch runs through the farm. This was constructed in the Bronze Age (1000BC to 500BC) for farming purposes and as a tribal Celtic boundary ditch. It is also locally known as the Grimsdyke or Devils Ditch.
Arthur Shering has owned Swaynes Firs since 1971. Swaynes Firs Farmhouse had been run as a bed and breakfast since 1983, many changes and upgrading has been done over the years. We hope you enjoy staying with us as much as we enjoy living here.
